MIPA SE is a family-owned leader in automotive refinish, architectural, industrial and wood coatings. Founded in 1948 as Paul Mittermayer GmbH, MIPA has eight manufacturing facilities and 1,550 employees, with MIPA products sold and processed in more than 100 countries around the world.
In a significant move, MIPA acquired the business of Wildschek Lacke & Farben GmbH, headquartered in Münchendorf, near Vienna, as of Feb. 1, 2025. Wildschek Lacke has six retail and wholesale locations, with 50 employees overall. The MIPA Group has been a Wildschek supplier for many years.
“This takeover allows us to be even closer to our customers in Austria and to serve them with high-quality products, first-class service and market-driven logistics,” said Markus Fritzsche, CEO of MIPA SE.
Founded in 1948 as Paul Mittermayer GmbH, family-owned MIPA SE is a leader in automotive refinish, architectural, industrial and wood coatings. In 2023, the company celebrated its 75th anniversary. MIPA has seven manufacturing facilities and 1,500 employees, with MIPA products sold and processed in more than 100 countries around the world.
In February 2024, MIPA SE took over the industrial coatings division of HAERING GmbH from Unterheinriet as of April 1, 2024. Two foreign subsidiaries were also included: HAERING Polska sp. z o.o. near Bydgoszcz, Poland and HAERING s.r.o. in Brno, Czech Republic. Production will be relocated to MIPA Group sites.
A specialist in automotive refinish, architectural, industrial and wood coatings, Essenbach, Germany-based MIPA SE was founded in 1948 as Paul Mittermayer GmbH, changing its name to MIPA in 2001. It remains a family-owned business, with eight manufacturing facilities, approximately 1,500 employees and sales in more than 100 countries worldwide. Through Mipa Direkt GmbH, customers can buy Mipa paints directly from company stores.
MIPA has been active on the acquisition front during the past 12 months. In June 2022, MIPA SE acquired Süddeutsches Lackwerk Zelle GmbH & Co. KG, Feldkirchen, Germany. Founded in 1922, Süddeutsches Lackwerk manufactures industrial coatings, high-temperature paints and functional coatings, most notably the Wetterwart brand.
In October 2022, MIPA SEE announced it had acquired Warnecke & Böhm GmbH, with plans to maintain the WB Coatings brand.
“The traditional WB Coatings brand will definitely be retained after the takeover,” said Markus Fritzsche, managing director of MIPA SE, in announcing the move. “Customers will be offered the usual product range and will continue to receive support from a specialized industrial coatings manufacturer in Bavaria.”
In January 2023, Streicolor AG, Frauenfeld, Switzerland, which had been part of the Mipa Group since 2003, was renamed Mipa Coatings Schweiz AG.

In major news, MIPA SE acquired the spray paint business for furniture, staircase and door industries from Klumpp Coatings GmbH on Aug. 1, 2021. Klumpp and its sister company Oskar Nolte, which is focused on the furniture segment, were part of SIC Holding. Klumpp Coatings is exclusively focused on environmentally compatible, radiation-curing and water-based coating systems for the flooring and furniture industry.
