Benjamin Moore Wins Product Stewardship Award

August 10, 2005

Benjamin Moore has been honored by the North American Hazardous Materials Management Association (NAHMMA) for its pollution prevention efforts. At NAHMMA’s 2002 Hazardous Materials Management conference held in Dallas last month, the paint manufacturer was presented with the Leadership Award for Product Stewardship in the private division. The honor, accepted by Benjamin Moore’s Carl Minchew, recognizes a key program of a business association or individual product manufacturer that promotes product stewardship in line with NAHMMA’s mission statement.
Benjamin Moore won the honor for a pilot program started in 2001 to take back surplus brand-specific latex paint in five Massachusetts municipalities. The program collected 256 gallons of latex paint, 240 of which were reclaimed. This past spring the company expanded the program to 16 permanent paint collection sites in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Connecticut.
