AGC Chemicals Americas FluoroCompounds Group has opened a pilot plant in Thorndale, Pa., to make it fast and easy for customers to receive small batches and samples of PTFE compounds. The pilot plant is located within the manufacturing facility of AGC’s full-scale production plant.
AGC’s FluoroCompounds Group exclusively develops fluoropolymer compounds. Drawing from an extensive global supply chain of resins and fillers, the Group says it can produce any filled PTFE or melt processable fluoropolymer compound customized to customers’ specific needs anywhere in the world.
Manufacturing product samples at the pilot plant also increases production capacity at AGC’s full-scale plant because both plants use the same technology and processes. Compounds manufactured at the pilot plant will match the properties of compounds produced in full-scale production and will meet the rigorous production part approval process (PPAP) testing standards for automotive parts.
“Now we can easily produce compounds in small batches for testing and application development,” said Gary Eckrote, business director of AGC FluoroCompounds Group. “Our customers often request samples, and we are pleased to have a facility dedicated to filling these requests with shorter lead times.”
