Axalta Coating Systems is presenting a range of innovative and sustainable solutions at the 20th annual international conference for the automotive industry in China, aimed at enabling automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to build a future that is committed to meeting sustainability goals as they expand their business success in China.
The annual auto conference started in October 1996 in Detroit, Michigan organized by China Business Update (CBU), a media group that engages in trade publishing, business consulting and international trade with an exclusive focus on the Chinese automotive industry. Since then this event has evolved into a unique annual international gathering, alternating between Beijing and Shanghai, of multinational and Chinese auto manufacturers.
Axalta’s sustainable solutions showcased at this event include its latest waterborne Harmonized Coating Technologies including the 3-Wet system, High Solids 3-Wet system and Axalta’s patented Eco-Concept primer-less coating system, one of the most advanced waterborne coating processes today. Different application systems respond to different customer specifications but all share the ability to reduce the number of bake steps and are designed to deliver the same full layer performance as traditional coating processes. The potential benefits for OEMs include improved productivity, lower VOC emissions, reduced energy consumption and lower facility investment and operation costs, while still offering a superior finish on vehicles.
“At Axalta, sustainability is in our DNA in all we do, whether it is in our R&D and new product development, in the application systems we provide to our customers or in our own manufacturing process. With more than 30 years in China and growing alongside China’s automotive industry – now the most rapidly growing in the world – we want to support our customers’ growth with sustainable coating systems,” said Luke Lu, Vice President of Axalta and President of Axalta’s operations in China. “Our array of Harmonized Coating Technologies can offer customers ways to save time and money by requiring fewer layers of coatings and energy consuming bake steps.”
