One in six men will develop prostate cancer in his lifetime, but there is an event that brings together cars, awareness, and testing that can help pave the way to save thousands of lives. Axalta Coating Systems, a leading global manufacturer of liquid and powder coatings, partnered with Long Island Cruizin’ for a Cure. This annual event, in partnership with Winthrop University Hospital, showcases more than 750 collectable cars, brings out in excess of 4,000 visitors and provides on-site prostate cancer screenings to help raise awareness about the disease and save lives.
This year’s car show took place on September 20th at the Sears Auto Center in Hicksville, New York. As in previous years, thousands flocked to see the beautiful collectable and antique cars in a vast array of colors.
“I want to thank Axalta Coating Systems for its support of Long Island Cruizin’ For A Cure 2015,” said Sandy Kane founder and event chair. “Axalta and other companies like them have made Long Island Cruizin’ the success it has become since our inception.”
“Axalta has a culture of giving back and we were more than happy to be a corporate sponsor for the 10th anniversary of this automotive event with a worthy cause,” said Lisa Miree-Luke, Axalta’s Head of Corporate Affairs for North America. “We are glad that so many came out to view the beautiful cars, raise awareness about prostate cancer, and more importantly, get tested.”
Long Island Cruizin’ For A Cure is a 501(c)3 incorporated in 2008 whose mission is to provide free PSA testing for the early detection of Prostate Cancer at our annual automotive event; to provide funding for prostate cancer research and to provide education about the need to get tested for prostate cancer on an annual basis.
