Employees of Axalta Coating Systems joined other volunteers this weekend to pack 50,000 meals for Kids Against Hunger Canada. This was the second consecutive year that Axalta employees supported this effort, held at the Forest Brook Community Church in Ajax, Ontario on Saturday, April 23, 2016.
The Rotary Club of Ajax, with support from the Town of Ajax, organizes the day-long event annually. Volunteers from the community and from local businesses like Axalta, gave their time and enthusiasm to pack meals for thousands of underprivileged children in Canada and overseas.
“Without healthy, nutritional meals children are unable to grow, thrive and learn,” said Donna Bright, Secretary, Rotary Club of Ajax, whose responsibilities include volunteer recruitment. “Although food support is a temporary fix, a $1.50 will provide six meals and helps to give children a head start. The Rotary Club of Ajax is proud to work with community volunteers to pack and donate 50,000 meals to areas where there is need.”
“As Axalta celebrates its 60th year in Ajax, it reminds me that being a good neighbor is about giving back,” said Paul Chaney, Axalta Plant Manager-Ajax. “I am extremely proud of our employees that selflessly took time out of their weekend to give back to children in our community and beyond.”
Kids Against Hunger Canada is a registered Canadian charity, whose mission is to end child hunger. They package and ship highly nutritious, life-saving meals to starving and malnourished children within Canada and developing countries around the world. For more information visit kahcanada.org.
