wwhttp://www.clariant.com provided scientific equipment and supplies to create a new chemistry laboratory at Central High School in Louisville, KY. This is part of Clariant's ongoing commitment to support science education in communities throughout the United States where Clariant operates.
This corporate donation, valued at $6,200, supports Central High School with its participation in the federal Magnet Schools Assistance Program grant, which encourages development of magnet schools that provide all students with the opportunity to meet challenging academic standards and that help prevent minority student isolation.
In addition to outfitting the school's chemistry lab, chemists from Clariant will volunteer at the school to better connect classroom learning with real-world scientific applications. These classroom interactions could inspire students to apply to Clariant's Chemistry Apprenticeship program following high school graduation. This competitive apprenticeship program provides work experience and paid tuition.
"Clariant is committed to being a good corporate citizen. We want to add value to our communities by enhancing educational opportunities and supporting initiatives that bring increased well-being," said Ken Golder, Region Head of Clariant North America. "We are excited to offer this support to Central High School and look forward to seeing future achievement by these students."
