Xtrutech’s XTS Compactor is a fines recycling system for the powder coatings industry. The XTS Compactor has been designed to effectively reduce waste by compacting fines and reintroducing them to the mill as chips. Xtrutech’s Compactor aims to tackle waste by recycling between 2%-10% of powder coating fines, offering a product yield of up to 99.5%.
The XTS Compactor is invisible to the plant. It sits in line with the mill and only compacts when it is given material. Fines are sent to the compactor via a diverter valve connected to the baghouse. They are fed between two large rolls to be compacted into a sheet, which is then broken into chips by the kibbler.
Xtrutech's Compactor provides a discreet and effective solution to fines waste, offering measurable cost savings, increased efficiency, and improved sustainability.
Its standard height is 2700mm including diverter valve, and discharge Height is 498mm. Adjustable settings ensure the chips remain at the desired size. The Clean in Place System (CIP) helps to reduce dust and to clean the machine in-between batches. It is ideally suited to recycling batches sizes of 5,000kgs and above.
The compactor can be run offline and multiple machines can be installed on one large line if required.
Chips can be fed back into the extruder for full reprocessing, which helps to increase the output due to the bulk density of the chips.
Typically, between 2% and 10% of fines are produced during powder coating production, either in the bag house or second cyclone. This means during a 5000kg batch which produces 3% fines, approximately 150kgs of raw material is lost. The compactor has a typical output of 28kg/hr which is dependent on the particle size of the fines, the formulations, and post additive content. Under the correct conditions the XTS compactor has demonstrated outputs of 40kg/hr.
