BioPowder, a producer and supplier of bio-based abrasives and fruit stone powders, announced a partnership with Dorfner, a German industrial mineral and functional filler systems provider.
This new strategic alliance will open new areas of research by combining BioPowder’s core competency in sustainable plant-based additives with Dorfner’s knowledge in application engineering to create product development opportunities.
Managing director of BioPowder Kathrin Schilling said: “We are delighted to deepen our working relationship with Dorfner in this manner. They have been a reliable partner and I am certain out complementary offerings will pave the way for new product grades that cater to a diverse range of chemistries. Through this collaboration, we expect to enter and serve new markets, offering formulators novel solutions with functional, aesthetic, and environmental advantages.
The two companies will reportedly work to develop a new line of plant-based functional filler and color particles to complement conventional quartz and kaolin particles. The natural additives can work as colored granules or ultra-fine fillers for coatings, flooring systems, and composite materials collected from agricultural side-steams.
With the collaboration, customers will be able to influence Dorfner’s surface-treatment and application lab capabilities to help develop “bespoke lines” of Olea Functional Powders according to customers specific requirements.
“At BioPowder, we believe in taking sustainability to the next level while setting new standards for product service quality,” added Schilling. “This collaboration represents a significant change in the way both our businesses address the needs of paints, coatings, and composites markets. And together, we will unlock the potential of bio-additives for eco-friendly developments in the market and beyond.”
