The Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) Annual Conference + Expo 2024 – the largest global corrosion and coatings tradeshow – will feature a significant presence from Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine during the March 3-7 event in New Orleans.
Company leadership and representatives will offer industry-leading expertise and a robust program of technical presentations on cutting-edge research and coatings developments. The program includes panels offering real-world solutions, as well as workshops and symposia on a diverse range of topics, such as the latest advances in protective coating technologies for corrosion under insulation (CUI), passive fire protection (PFP) and thermal insulation.
Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine will also sponsor many of the expo’s key events, including the conference’s ribbon-cutting and an EMERG member scholarship reception on March 5, which will honor students intending to enter the materials protection industry.
The conference and expo is the premier global event in corrosion prevention, protective coatings, and materials protection and performance.
“We’re thrilled to welcome our industry professionals in the ‘Big Easy’ and offer an extensive program that includes more than 600 hours of unique content on the latest industry advancements,” said Kristin Leonard, North America marketing director of energy for Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine and Chair of the AMPP Global Center Board of Directors.
“Together we will share important new knowledge, forge valuable connections and drive the industry forward. Attendees can engage in enlightening technical sessions – led by industry pioneers – and stay updated on the latest peer-reviewed research, while also exploring over 300,000 square feet of exhibition space,” Leonard added.
Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine will serve as lead sponsor for the conference’s Exhibit Hall Grand Opening and Ribbon-Cutting on March 4, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
Throughout the week, the company will maintain a significant presence in the exhibit hall at booth 1119. Representatives will showcase innovative products and services, highlighting high-performance protective coatings for a range of assets.
Features include advancements in coatings used for fire protection (Firetex FX9502 and Firetex M90/03), energy-related assets (Heat-Flex CUI-Mitigation Coatings, Heat-Flex 7000 Thermal Insulative Coating System and cutting-edge solutions for biofuel tank linings) and infrastructure (Sher-Bar TEC (Textured Epoxy Coating) and Sherplate 600).
Sherwin-Williams also will offer sponsored presentations in AMPPiTheater 3 during a happy hour cocktail and coffee bar event Tuesday, which will feature two presentations:
• March 5, 3:30 to 4 p.m.: Mark Rubio, Sherwin-Williams business manager of energy, and Neil Wilds, Sherwin-Williams global product director of CUI/Testing, will present “CUI Mitigation to Elimination – Breaking the Boundaries of CUI and TIC Coatings.” The session will review technology advances in thermal insulative coatings (TICs) to help address CUI, one of the costliest problems facing the process industry.
• March 5, 4 to 4:30 p.m.: Max Tritremmel, Sherwin-Williams global director of fire protection, will review advancements in epoxy fireproofing technology, including Firetex FX9502, which has made shop-applied intumescent coatings a viable alternative to traditional low-density fire-resistant materials.
“Our industry is essential worldwide, and that is never clearer than when we gather together,” said Leonard. “We create long-term, predictable asset integrity that is responsible for widespread benefits in public safety, productivity and sustainability. Our industry professionals make widespread impacts and promote sustainable management practices for critical industrial assets like energy infrastructure, transportation infrastructure, water and wastewater, waterways, the shipping industry and defense assets.”
