The Valspar Championship at Innisbrook, March 7-13, promises to be one of the most colorful events on the PGA Tour with a number of activities and events from title sponsor.
Valspar is turning the spotlight on the cadre of trusted caddies who counsel, cheer and console the players along the course. They'll be crowned with colorful caps in a choice of hues that are certain to enliven the view for those at the event plus the TV audience watching Golf Channel and NBC coverage.
"Caddies often are the unsung heroes of the sport," said Aaron Erter, senior vice president at Valspar. "Our caps are the first of what will be a season-long program of surprises for these valued experts in a genuine show of appreciation."
Throughout the tournament, there will be numerous color experiences for gallery guests – both individuals and families.

“We’re going to live up to our theme ‘The Most Colorful PGA TOUR Tournament in the World’,” Erter said. Committed to making the event bigger, better and more vibrant, Valspar is hosting a number of colorful initiatives:
• Valspar COLOR SCOUTS: Valspar COLOR SCOUTS will be roaming the course looking for the most colorful fan and awarding prizes;
• Valspar SHOT SPOTS: Fans will be encouraged to get snap happy and social, photographing selfies with Valspar’s four colorful backdrops designated as “SHOT SPOTS” using #ValsparChampionship;
• Valspar COLOR EXPERIENCE 2016: Behind the 18th green, fans can relax, refresh and participate in lawn games at the COLOR EXPERIENCE.

Inside the expo tent, in the shade of the Cabot Gold Deck will be activities like the Habitat Valspar Putting Challenge, Val the Chameleon, and a display of the 2016 Colors of the Year.
A highlight of the week is a free Valspar Live! Concert headlined by the award-winning musical group Rascal Flatts, on Thursday, March 10. This entertainment treat is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Osprey driving range.
“While we have a lot planned for fans who attend and follow the tournament, we’re also sponsoring several programs that benefit residents of Pinellas County who need a helping hand, Erter said. “Giving back is a Valspar legacy, so we’re partnering again with Copperhead Charities, which has a long history with the PGA and serving the local community here.”
Making an Impact: Helping With Shelter and Hunger
Supporting local Habitat for Humanity organizations since 1993, Valspar contributes paint, volunteers and funding for every Habitat house built or repaired in the U.S., including 13,000 gallons of paint for the more than 200 Habitat homes built in Pinellas County. Last year, together with Copperhead Charities, more than $70,000 in tournament proceeds was donated to help build a home for a family of four. Throughout tournament week, the “Valspar Putt for Habitat Challenge” will raise money for this cause, with $5 donated for every fan who sinks a putt. Two greens in the Valspar Color Experience Expo tent will be the site of this action, and Valspar could contribute up to $15,000 from the challenge.
The company is translating fun into funds in another way, contributing 4,000 cans of food to Feeding America Tampa Bay that, with help from a team of Canstruction volunteers, will be fashioned into a giant replica of the paint company’s colorful chameleon mascot. The build of this towering creation takes place Tuesday–Wednesday, March 8 and 9, with the reveal on Thursday, March 10. At the end of the tournament, the sculpture will be dismantled and the food distributed.
