Q: Please give me a little background information on the Institute of Coating Technology. Where is it located? When was it founded?
A: The Institute of Coating Technologies (IoCT) is a modern research and innovation institute, founded in 2019 by academics and esteemed executives active in the coating and paint industry. The head office are based in Athens, Greece, but through the accumulated knowledge and experience in each area of the coating industry – from the use of raw materials to application and inspection – can operate as a global body for the science and application of coating technologies, providing a forum for networking and knowledge exchange among scientists, researchers, industry and educators, and disseminating leading-edge information and best practices. IoCT covers the lack of an holistic approach and treatment of the coatings concerning all professionals who are directly or indirectly involved in this field (architects, engineers, decorators etc), incorporating:• Training and certification
• Research and Development
• Materials testing and certification
• Creating technical/project specifications
• Consulting and arbitration
• Connecting the coating industry to international organizations.

A: IoCT's mission is to bring together the scientific community, the technical staff and all stakeholders involved professionally, educationally and researchally in the field of coatings.Primary objective of the Institute is to set standards, develop the know-how, anticipate developments, nurture creativity and promote in practice the value of lifelong learning through training and consulting. Having experience, knowledge, expertise, and positive thinking, IoCT provides solutions to the daily needs of every professional.

Q: Where was the Coating Forum held?
A: The 1st Coating Forum entitled “Sustainable Colored Future” was a one-day event held in Athens, Greece, on October 19th 2022. The main goal was to build awareness to sustainable paints and coatings for both architectural and industrial applications.Q: How many people attended?
A: More than 300 attendees among them, senior executives and experts (Engineers, Scientists, Producers and Professionals) from the construction industry, policy makers, consultants, technology innovators and leading market analysts.Q: What was the theme of the event?
A: The Coating Forum gave an insight into industry`s latest policy evaluations, while focusing largely on developments within the construction industry, was also concentrated on updates and future forecasts on supply and demand of the key world markets. By highlighting the sector’s current major challenges and opportunities the conference was provided a complete outlook on market trends.
The main question that all speakers, from their field of expertise, tried to answer was if we can build sustainability and performance in an affordable approach at the same time.
Q: What types of companies presented at the event (paint manufacturers, raw material suppliers, distributors, etc.)?
A: Mainly was paint manufacturers and raw materials suppliers/distributors, additionally, a sufficient number of companies from construction and real estate sector. The list was completed by companies from packaging, consulting companies on sustainability and CSR, certification bodies and financial institutions. Noteworthy was the presence of related association and organizations (private and governmental).Q: When will the next Forum be held?
A: The next Coating Forum is just announced, and will be held on November 3rd 2023.
