The Lubrizol Corporation won a Ringier Technology Innovation Award at the 9th annual China Green Coatings Summit held May 15-16, at the Renaissance Shanghai Pudong Hotel in Shanghai, China. The summit is considered to be one of China’s most important coatings industry events. The award was presented to Sanjay Kalhan, Asia Pacific business manager for Lubrizol Performance Coatings, in a special ceremony at the summit event.
One of the coatings industry’s most prestigious and sought after honors, the Ringier Technology Innovation Awards are given annually to new products in a variety of categories that take the global coatings industry to an unprecedented level of efficiency while maintaining environmentally responsible standards. Competing products are judged by a panel of experts from research institutions, the coatings industry and professional associations. Lubrizol’s Carbocure 7000, an advanced liquid surface modifier specifically developed to enhance the performance and aesthetics of UV-coated wood products, won the award in the additives category.
“China is a fast-growing and highly competitive market, and for Carbocure 7000 to be recognized by their experts with this award is quite an honor,” said Kalhan. “At Lubrizol, our scientists constantly use imaginative approaches and technologies to formulate solutions that help coatings manufacturers enhance their products’ capabilities. We’re particularly excited about Carbocure 7000 because it works so well, is easy to use and is an environmentally responsible product. Pre-finished wood products using UV-cured coatings can gain in appearance and surface smoothness with the addition of Carbocure 7000.”
Using proprietary Lubrizol technology, Carbocure 7000 provides excellent matting, enhances surface smoothness through improved flow and leveling and improves the soft, tactile feel of UV cured coatings without increasing formula viscosity or affecting clarity the company said. It comes in liquid form and features fast, agglomerate-free dispersion with only low speed mixing for easy incorporation. The new additive also offers improved water beading capability and minimizes issues relating to foam or dust. These characteristics make Carbocure 7000 an ideal and versatile choice for higher-end furnishings and other demanding flat-surface coating requirements.
