The coatings and color technologies segment of DuPont reported sales of $1.3 billion for the fourth quarter of 2002, a rise of seven percent over the same period in 2001. This increase reflects a five percent sales growth and two percent price hike.
Total sales for 2002 were $5 billion, two percent higher than 2001. The increase came from automotive finish sales, according to the company. Segment volume increased five percent, while prices declined three percent for the year. Earnings for the coatings segment were offset slightly by lower earnings in TiO2 products, a result of lower prices, according to the company.
