Rohm and Haas Reports
Fourth Quarter and Year-End Results
l Rohm and Haas reported coatings sales in the fourth quarter increased by more than 16% to $444 million. This includes sales from the Ferro Powder Coatings business it had acquired in Europe. On a same-business basis, sales for the coating segment were up 10%. These results reflect continued strength in the home improvement and automotive markets, according to the company.
Adhesives and sealants sales for the fourth quarter declined 17% compared with the previous year, down to $146 million. However, excluding sales from the exited liquid polysulfide business, sales were up five percent, according to the company.
Performance chemicals sales were $287 million for the fourth quarter, unchanged from the fourth quarter 2001. This number excludes monomers, which are now reported as a separate section and had sales of $250 million, up 24%.
For the full year, Rohm and Haas reported sales of $5.7 billion, which were relatively flat compared with 2001 figures. Sales growth in many key businesses was offset by the impact of sold businesses, according to the company.
