PQI Reports Rising Paint

Published August 10, 2005

The Paint Quality Institute (PQI) has reported that paint costs are going up, and it is likely that more increases will be announced in coming months. Contributing to the cost run-ups are expenses related to many ingredients, particularly titanium dioxide and acrylic and vinyl-acrylic latex binders. In addition to higher raw material costs, PQI reports that freight costs, as well as continuing cost pressures related to health insurance, security and regulatory compliance, are also affecting the costs to produce and distribute paint.
