Study Predicts Four Percent Sales Gain Annually for U.S. Paint and Coatings Market
A new study from Business Trend Analysts says the paint and coatings market posted a solid gain of 3.9% in 2003, and solid growth is expected in the near term. The Commack, NY-based market research company reports that buoyant demand for architectural coatings, coatings for military applications and a robust export market all remained strong during the recession and will be joined by a resurgence in other market segments such as OEM product finishes and special-purpose coatings. “The Outlook for the Paints and Coatings Industry” reports that volume is expected to reach just under two billion gallons by 2012 and dollar sales will climb by more than four percent annually, reaching $25.3 billion. The 480-page study, which also includes a special section that allows plant manger to compare their operating data to industry averages, is $1995. More info: BTA, (800) 866-4648.
