Akzo Nobel has received a patent for
a method of producing a coating with a
rapidly curing surface. It is comprised
of preparing a photoactivatable coating
composition by mixing at least one photoinitiator
and a base-catalyzed polymerizable
or curable organic material
comprising at least one polyisocyanate
and at least one compound comprising
isocyanate reactive groups, wherein the
isocyanate reactive groups comprise at
least one thiol group and the photoinitiator
is a photolatent base; applying
the photoactivatable coating composition
to a substrate, and curing the
applied coating composition with UV
radiation.
