Rohm and Haas reported sales of $570 million for its Paint and Coatings Materials business for the third quarter of 2007. This represents an increase of four percent over the same period in 2006. According to the company, the higher sales reflect strong demand growth in rapidly developing economies including China, Southeast Asia and India, where the company has been successful in launching new products specifically targeted for unique market needs. Volumes in the U.S. for this business were down one percent in the third quarter compared with the prior-year period, reflecting weaker demand in the housing-related markets.
