Chemetall GmbH has been granted an aqueous composition consisting of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a silane, a silanol, a siloxane and a polysiloxane, wherein the content of silane/silanol/siloxane/polysiloxane in the composition ranges from 0.02 to 1 g/L, calculated on the basis of the corresponding silanols; at least one compound b containing at least one of titanium, hafnium, zirconium, aluminum or boron, at least one of which compounds is a complex fluoride, wherein the content of compound b in the composition ranges from 0.1 to 15 g/L, calculated as the sum of the corresponding metals; c) at least one cation selected from cation of metals of subgroups 1 to 3 and 5 to 8, including lanthanides, and of main group 2 of the periodic table of the elements, or at least one corresponding compound c), wherein the content of cations or corresponding compound c) ranges from 0.01 to 6 g/L; at least one substance d) selected from the group consisting of d1) a silicon-free compound having at least one of an amino, an urea or an ureido group; d2) an anion of nitrite or a compound having at least one nitro group, d3) a peroxide compound; and d4) at least one of a phosphorus-containing compound, an anion of at least one phosphate or an anion of at least one phosphonate; and e) water.
