Mayan Pigments, Inc. has been granted a patent for a hybrid pigment composition comprised of a pigment or a dye reacted with a fibrous clay, wherein the pigment composition has higher reflectance in a near infrared region than a visible light region of the electromagnetic spectrum, and wherein the pigment or dye is selected from the group consisting of Solvent Yellow 33, Vat Red 1, Vat Red 41, and Vat Orange 5; and at least one additional dye or pigment.
