As part of its global community engagement efforts, PPG has announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES™ project at Flying Horse Farms camp in Mount Gilead, Ohio. More than 40 PPG employee volunteers used more than 170 gallons of PPG PAINTS™ products to beautify several buildings on the grounds and help lift the spirits of hundreds of children with serious illnesses who visit the camp annually.
Volunteers from PPG facilities in Strongsville and Delaware, Ohio, refreshed buildings on the camp’s property with PPG Paints brand TIMELESS® exterior paint in vibrant colors to match the existing colors of the facilities. The paint, which will refresh the camp’s big red barn, program building, dining hall and medical facility, the “Wellnest,” provides one-coat coverage, a durable finish and outstanding dirt-resistance, in addition to excellent vibrancy, color retention and ultraviolet (UV) resistance. The camp-ish colors being used – including PPG Paints colors Delicate White (PPG1001-1), Brown Basket (PPG 16-15), Moss Ring (PPG1130-6), Ginger Jar (226-6) and Baked Bean (PPG1066-7) – were chosen to invigorate children and encourage creativity.
“We are incredibly grateful for PPG’s support and enthusiasm during this project,” said Mimi Dane, chief executive officer, Flying Horse Farms. “The fresh coat of paint on our various facilities makes such a difference in the vibrancy and overall look of this special place.”
Flying Horse Farms provides magical, transformative camp experiences for children with serious illnesses and their families – free of charge. Located on 200 acres in Mount Gilead, the camp first opened its gates in 2010 and hosts about 900 children and their families each year. Swimming, boating, fishing, canine therapy, high ropes, archery, and arts and crafts are just the beginning of the adventure at Flying Horse Farms. Each activity is designed to ensure every camper can participate and feel a sense of pride, accomplishment and freedom from medical concerns.
“Flying Horse Farms is truly a magical place for campers and their families, and I’m excited that my PPG colleagues and I could help protect and beautify it with PPG Paints products,” said John Lewis, PPG marketing manager, automotive refinish, and past chair of the Flying Horse Farms board. “Through the Colorful Communities program, PPG made it possible for us to brighten this amazing place with colors as bold as the courageous campers.”
