Axalta-Huajia Coatings, a joint-venture company of Axalta Coating Systems recently won the renowned “Top 10 China Powder Coating Product” award for its Nap-Gard® epoxy powder coatings products, for the innovation behind their durability, anti-corrosion properties and ability to help meet sustainability goals.
The Society of Coatings and Finishing, an affiliated organization to the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China (CIESC), organized a committee of industry professionals to select the winners based on several criteria, including market advantage, product and application benefits, and sustainability. In addition, public internet votes were also counted in the award selection. Axalta’s Nap-Gard is recognized for its innovation qualities such as its 100% solids formulation and absence of targeted harmful air contaminants (HAPs) which combine to address China’s environmental protection agenda.
“Winning this award comes at an opportune time as Axalta is celebrating 150 years of innovative development,” said Xu Xiangming, General Manager of Axalta-Huajia Coatings. “Last year Nap-Gard celebrated its own 50th anniversary as well. Nap-Gard is the first in the world to offer epoxy powder coatings as anti-corrosion material for gas pipeline construction. Today, Nap-Gard is designed to provide superior anti-corrosion and wear-resistant protection to internal and external pipes for oil and gas, as well as valves, used under the most taxing environmental conditions. We are grateful to the CIESC and the Society of Coatings and Finishing for recognizing our years of innovation.”
Axalta’s Nap-Gard fusion bonded epoxy thermosetting coatings are formulated to withstand long-term exposure to corrosive elements in the air, ground, water, sea and soil as well as chemicals. It is also a tough wear-resistant coating with excellent adhesion and insulating properties which can effectively prevent construction and mechanical damage to pipelines laid underground and subject to soil stresses.
The award was presented during the annual conference of the China Powder Coatings and Finishing Industry organized by the Society of Coatings and Finishing of CIESC. This conference along with the award was introduced in response to the Chinese government’s supply-side structural reform aimed at increasing the supply of high-end and eco-responsible products and services through innovation and entrepreneurship. The reform expects to support the economic growth of China.
