Hardide Coatings, a metal matrix composite coatings provider, has been awarded funding for the development of its chemical vapor disposition (CVD) coatings by the national innovation agency, Innovate UK.
According to the company, this funding will help study the “flexural behavior” of the CVD coating under high static and cyclic loading conditions.
Innovate UK awarded the funding under its Analysis for Innovators (A4I) Round 9 program. Innovate UK will also help the company better understand the influence of key coating characteristics.
With the funding, Hardide plans to conduct a study to help solve technical challenges that have been encountered in the power generation and hydrogen production and distribution sectors. The study will be done in collaboration with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) and is expected to be completed by spring 2024.
“The funding from Innovate UK, and the expertise and facilities at NPL, means we can undertake the work now and generate dependable design data that we and our customers can use to determine the potential in various high value manufacturing sectors,” said Hardide Coatings technical director Yuri Zhuk.
