Teknos has published its non-financial report for 2022. By publishing non-financial information, Teknos strives to provide transparency into the progress of its sustainability efforts.
"At Teknos, we are collectively committed to leaving the company and the world in a better state for future generations; we describe this through our collective company purpose: We make the world last longer," Paula Salastie, CEO of Teknos Group, said.
Teknos’ non-financial report provides an opportunity for the entire organization to come together and share their progress and commitments they have made. The report describes progress on sustainability actions as defined by Teknos’ strategy and our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program.
In 2022, Teknos worked to understand its emissions in Scope 3 and defined a baseline for this. The company now has targets for its Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. Although Teknos set the Scope 3 target in 2022, Teknos has been providing services to customers throughout the company's history to optimize their coating lines to use materials more efficiently, optimizing paint consumption, and minimizing waste creation, all while advising on reducing energy consumption.
"In many ways, the ongoing war in Ukraine and the resultant energy crisis experienced this year have placed an even greater need to focus on sustainable practices. At Teknos, we've continued our investment in activities that will reduce our energy use and identified alternative energy sources," Salastie said.
In 2022, Teknos recommitted itself to its vision of being a sustainable coatings solutions provider close to customers, reviewed how far it has come towards that vision, and defined how the company would go forward. Sustainability considerations are at the core of everything, from use of resources, how Teknos works, ethics, the culture the company wants to foster, and impact on the environment and communities.
"Ultimately, the work carried out in this updated strategy will ensure we hold ourselves responsible for the world around us and our influence," added Salastie.
"With our expanded understanding of responsibility, we will foster our inclusive and family-orientated culture while supporting the communities in which we operate. We will also continue our journey to mitigate our impact on the climate throughout our entire value chain. Together we will make the world last longer," Salastie concluded.
