Here is Coatings World’s weekly recap of the most-viewed news stories on our site for the week ending July 18, 2026.
There are two top stories from AkzoNobel this week. First, the company confirms receiving offers from Nippon Paints for its Decorative Paints business, but no final deal has been made. Also, in accordance with a presidential decree signed by the President of Russia, AkzoNobel’s Russian subsidiaries are under temporary external administration. Next, BASF has released preliminary figures for the second quarter of 2026. The positive results have caused the company to increase its 2026 outlook. Gemini Industries, Inc. acquired Industrial Coating Solutions (ICS) in Vancouver, Washington. Lastly, Nippon Paint participated in SMARTCOR 2026 – 1st International Conference on Materials for Corrosion Resistance and Smart Control, held at CSIR–Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology, Bhubaneswar, highlighting Advanced Coil Coatings for a sustainable future.
