BASF “Goes Pink” and Raises More than $3,000 for Breast Cancer Awareness

The BASF Midwest Hub is “going pink” as employees join together to support breast cancer awareness.

More than 400 trees on BASF property along Biddle Avenue in Wyandotte and on the Southfield campus were decorated with pink ribbons as part of the “Tie a Pink Ribbon” campaign.

“As BASF joins the fight against breast cancer, we display pink ribbons in our communities to show our support for those who have been affected by this disease.” said Greg Pflum, Vice President and General Manager of BASF’s Midwest Hub. “It’s important for our employees to help build awareness because early detection is key to saving lives.”

In addition to the pink ribbon campaign, employees showed their support by raising more than $3,000, including a $1,000 donation from the company, for the American Cancer Society. Funds were raised through an employee cook-off contest and by participating in the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk in Detroit. Both events were sponsored by the BASF Women in Business employee group.

The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.
