BASF presented a new stir-in pigment technology for automotive coatings.

The eXpand! technology was developed by BASF and Landa Labs to enhance color depth, flop and sparkle. eXpand! Blue EH 6001 is the second pigment in BASF’s eXpand! range, which is marketed under the company’s Colors & Effects brand.

“We saw great success with the launch of eXpand! Red EH 3427, having generated sales just five months after its launch in March 2018. In reaction to this market demand, we have now sped up to deliver new colors with this revolutionary pigment technology,” said Paul Verhoeven, eXpand! business leader at BASF.

The deep blue pigment is distinguished by high transparency and tinting strength, giving chromatic shades with lower scattering. With its small particles, it is easily dispersible, allowing cost and time savings in production. It is compatible with modern automotive coating systems and suitable for outdoor applications.

Paliochrom effect pigments are designed for modern automotive and high-performance industrial coatings. They provide excellent hiding and saturation, while maintaining good appearance in thin film applications, according to the company.

The new addition to the range, Paliochrom Premium Gold EH1, is a highly saturated golden effect pigment that simultaneously delivers superior travel and hiding, resulting in high brilliance and a wide choice of styling options.
