BASF employees hosted a fundraising dinner at Silver Shores Banquet Center and participated in a local community walk to raise more than $8,000 to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). The dinner, hosted by the BASF ALLchemie employee group, featured local bands Category 5 and Nina and the Buffalo Riders, who donated their time and equipment for the event. All proceeds benefitted the AFSP with BASF Corporation contributing $2,500. BASF employees also participated in the Metro Detroit Downriver Out of the Darkness community walk to raise additional funds. “BASF is raising awareness to help eliminate the stigma surrounding mental illness and suicide,” said Greg Pflum, Vice President and General Manager of BASF’s Midwest Hub. “We hope our support can be a catalyst to help.” The AFSP is a not-for-profit organization, dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy. The group funds research to improve interventions, provides educational programs for schools, communities and workplaces, and offers outreach programs for those in crisis and survivors.
