Boeing’s new facility will be part of the Phantom Works segment.

Boeing recently started building its third new advanced coatings center in St. Louis, MO. This plant will be a part of Boeing’s “Production System of the Future Program” within their Phantom Works segment. According to a report, the 47,500 square foot facility will support post-assembly phases of future military aircraft production, and will begin operations in 2025. Last fall, Boeing opened a new Center in Mesa, Arizona for purpose-built Advance Composite Fabrications. Already in St. Louis, Boeing opened a Lab and Testing Facility with plans to open more facilities in the upcoming years. “This investment is not only to win new future franchise programs but, more importantly, to enable the United States to outpace increasingly capable and aggressive adversaries,” said Steve Nordlund, Boeing’s Air Dominance vice president and general manager of the St. Louis site. “We are revolutionizing how aircraft are designed, built and delivered because the threats demand it.” The Phantom Works program is a division that’s focused on research development and prototyping. The new site will allow Boeing to “scale a platform-agnostic, modular and flexible digital production system for deployment across future defense programs.” Boeing is Missouri’s largest manufacturer with more than 15,000 employees.
