Henkel recently moved into its new office in the Henkel Management Center (HMC) in Yangpu District, Shanghai, which will be the company’s new Asia-Pacific & Greater China Headquarters. Situated in New Jiangwan Town, the 23,952 sqm HMC will house around 1,500 Henkel employees in total. Henkel’s original site in Zhangjiang, Pudong District will continue to serve as its regional innovation hub. “Henkel first moved our Asia-Pacific and Greater China Headquarters to Shanghai in 2007. Since then we have continued to deepen our presence and expand our investment in this region,” said Michelle Cheung, president of Henkel Asia-Pacific. “Today’s move to the Henkel Management Center further demonstrates the strategic importance of this market, and signals our intent to drive regional growth and achieve our ambitions under the Henkel 2020+ Strategy.” Henkel has achieved significant growth in the Asia-Pacific region, with reported sales reaching €3.24 million ($3.88 million) in 2016, and around 10,000 employees across 13 markets. It continuously strengthens its competitiveness through strategic investments to enhance regional productivity and innovation capabilities. “We are proud of what we have achieved here in Asia-Pacific and Greater China, with China as already the second largest market for Henkel Adhesive Technologies globally,” said Christian Kirsten, head of Adhesive Technologies, Henkel Asia-Pacific. “The new regional headquarters will further enhance our productivity and response to the markets, which will better strengthen our leadership in the region by providing market-driven innovations and high-impact solutions for our customers!” The new workspace boasts state-of-the-art design and technologies that will help enhance team connection and productivity. With a focus on digitalization and agility in line with Henkel 2020+, the workstations will be integrated with advanced technologies to help assist daily tasks, while smart layout design will meet the needs of diverse teams and individuals. “We’re thrilled to welcome Henkel’s extended presence into the Spring Center. That such an established leading global company has movedits regional headquarters here speaks volumes for Yangpu District’s growing appeal as a headquarter location for multinational companies. Asa national innovation district, we hope to collaborate closely with Henkel, to have Yangpu District serve as a springboard for Henkel to accelerate its growth in the region,” said Xie Jiangang, governor of Yangpu District Government.
