INEOS has unveiled plans to build a business HQ in Grangemouth as part of an ongoing investment in its 1,700 acre estate. Along with the new building, INEOS has started clearing the site of old unused buildings and decommissioned plants. The new space will allow the business to attract other businesses to the site, as it creates a world class manufacturing hub in the Central Belt of Scotland. The new £20m building has been designed by one of Scotland’s leading architectural practices, Michael Laird Architects, and will provide high quality office space over four floors. For the first time in many years, the business at Grangemouth will be able to bring its employees together in a way that suits the new business operation. It will improve productivity and collaboration with a single office that is built for today’s business needs. The building will include meeting rooms and conference facilities located on the ground floor, and three floors of open plan office space above. The investment will be good for INEOS and local businesses that will benefit from the investment and the long-term, skilled jobs at the site. John McNally, CEO INEOS Olefins & Polymers UK said: “The site is undergoing a radical transformation with significant investment that will herald a new era in petrochemical manufacturing at Grangemouth. Investment into the Chemicals business is in the order of £450m, which includes spend on this new office accommodation, restructuring of redundant assets as well as our ethane supply project. This represents the most significant investment into UK and Scottish petrochemical manufacturing of recent times and demonstrates INEOS’ commitment to the Grangemouth site, its employees and the local economy.” Demolition work is already underway at the Grangemouth site and this has cleared space for the new building that will be constructed within the existing site boundary alongside the Inchyra Road. The new business HQ and office accommodation is scheduled for completion in September next year. This new building is just one part of the innovative redevelopment plans for Grangemouth. Old manufacturing plants and vacant buildings will make way for “brown field” plots that will be made available to new businesses attracting investment into the area. These businesses will be able to benefit from the raw materials, existing power, steam, logistics and other services provided by INEOS.
