Miller Paint, the Pacific Northwest’s leader in paint manufacturing for the past 133 years, introduces its 2024 Color of the Year MUSHROOM|R012, an earthy neutral that strikes a balance between warmth and brightness. “Mushroom|R012 is from our Northwest Color Collection and takes its cue from the surrounding forests in our region,” said Puji Sherer, vice president of marketing, color and brand at Miller Paint. “An integral part of our natural world, mushrooms support the colorful life that grows up from our soil. Our 2024 Color of the Year mimics nature and is a beautiful backdrop for our home spaces.” In honor of the 2024 Color of the Year – Mushroom|R012, Miller Paint has partnered with Portland chefs Mona and Jaret of Tournant. Known for their special farm-to-fire approach to cooking, they celebrate the beauty and the bounty of our Pacific Northwest region. Their passion for foraging for foundational and local ingredients reflects back to Mushroom|R012 as a stable hue that the rest of your home’s color palette can build upon. Enjoy their recipe for Mushroom Pizza Fritta and bring a taste of the Pacific Northwest to your table. “We feel incredibly fortunate to live in a region that is blessed with such bounty from the fields and forest, rivers and oceans, and to have the Pacific Northwest as our muse,” said Mona Johnson of Tournant. “We believe our surroundings are an integral part of the dining experience to create a specific mood – from colors and textures to lighting.” Mushroom R012 is a neutral complement to earthy hues like greens and brown that are reminiscent of the forest floor, as well as more saturated colors that add interest and energy. Supporting hues for Mushroom|R012 are from the Northwest Color Collection and include: ● Foliage|R063 – A soft sage green with a touch of blue, this soothing hue just feels good. Use on cabinets to make a soft statement. ● Bronzite|R053 – This greenish gold offers a natural glow to any space. Use this color in a living room or den and strike up a conversation. ● Fresh Water|R076 – Cool and refreshing, this clear blue begs you to jump in and stay awhile. Consider using this hue on a kitchen island or bar where an accent is needed. ● Mossy Driftwood|R064 – The perfect cabin or cottage color, this color blends green and brown with ease. An easy choice for exteriors, this color will act as a neutral for any other colors you want to pair with it. ● Chocolate Opal|R130 – A nurturing neutral, this color terracotta hue is easy to love. Use in kitchens and dining rooms to make a statement, but in a more relaxed way than red. ● Barn Rafter|R130 – A rich, chalky brown can be used as an alternative to gray or black for an earthy elegance on exteriors. More timeless than trendy, this color is grounded in confidence and complexity.
