Springtime trends reflect the energy and freshness of nature, including brilliant and light yellow-greens.

Miller Paint, the Pacific Northwest’s leader in paint manufacturing, announced its Spring Color Trends for 2023 from the Northwest Color Collection, highlighting the visual color contrasts of greens and yellows found in the natural environment. Miller Paint collaborated with color expert Kristin Van Buskirk, owner of the Portland-based boutique Woonwinkel, for this season’s spring color palette. “Springtime is full of fresh, brilliant greens that are fleeting,” said Van Buskirk. “I love the contrasts found in nature throughout the spring, between the light yellow-greens and the deeper greens, to create a visual energy that we can harness in a room or an entryway. Having recently moved from the city to a 100-year-old house adjacent to Marquam Nature Park, I’m entranced by the layers of green surrounding me. Greens are balanced colors, and I chose the 2023 Spring Color Trends to capture a lighthearted springtime mood of energy and calm.” 2023 Spring Color Trends • Luna | R049 — The perfect spring yellow … or is it green? This color shifts with the light, adding a subtle complexity to any interior space. Try Luna in a sunroom or kitchen where brightness abounds. • Verde | R058 — As its name implies, this luscious green encapsulates all of the vibrancy this season has to offer. Use on walls in a den or study as an upbeat alternative to the moodier forest green. • Shallow Moon | R083 — A rich blue with greenish undertones, this darker blue brings balance and grounding. Suitable for any interior space – from trim and doors to walls and ceilings – this blue also wants to be outside. Designed to scale for a large project, this is one of our most versatile blues for exteriors. • Hue is the Artist | R132 — Lilac blooms and crocus buds dot our landscape this season, bringing unexpected joy to our busy days. Use this color the same way in your home, and surprise guests with a painted archway or tiny powder room ceiling. “Spring is the best time for home improvement projects, and this year’s spring color palette is upbeat and uplifting,” said Puji Sherer, VP of marketing, color & brand for Miller Paint. “We loved partnering with Kristin and helping her transform the sunroom in her historic home into a modern, playful living space with our springtime hues.” Classic Tudor Sunroom Transforms with Modern Color Palette When Van Buskirk started remodeling her 1920s Portland home, she discovered the kitchen cabinets were original to the house and most of the paint and wall coverings were at least 60 years old. “There was so much work to do that we decided to start with the sunroom, which is the smallest room in the house,” said Van Buskirk. “This room was already my favorite place because of its great sun exposure.” Van Buskirk chose Luna / R049 for the sunroom walls to give the room a touch of green and added pops of cheerful colors on chairs and textiles. She also used Hue is the Artist / R132 – the color of lilac – to add a splash of surprise color to an archway. To celebrate spring, Miller Paint will offer 30% off all its Miller-branded paint for interior and exterior projects from March 20 to April 1, 2023. Miller Paint’s color experts also offer in-person or virtual color consultations to help homeowners find the perfect palette for interior or exterior projects.
