Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine will feature its new Sher-Bar TEC rebar coating technology at the 2025 World of Concrete (WOC) show at the Las Vegas Convention Center from Jan. 20-23. At Booth N2863, a team of global coatings experts will discuss how Sher-Bar TEC – a unique, textured epoxy coating (TEC) – redefines standards for rebar coatings, offering increased bond strength, damage tolerance and corrosion resistance for both horizontal and vertical concrete projects. These properties enable improved asset longevity and reduce environmental impacts associated with construction and maintenance. The Sher-Bar TEC line introduces a new approach to rebar coatings, combining reliable corrosion protection with a stronger bond to concrete than traditional solutions. Its distinctive textured finish enhances concrete adhesion, providing structures with greater stability. This improved bonding strength is particularly vital for high-impact applications, such as bridge decks and vertical structures. By helping concrete remain securely anchored to rebar, Sher-Bar TEC reduces long-term repair needs, supporting more durable and cost-effective infrastructure. “Our Sher-Bar TEC solution doesn’t just protect rebar – it reshapes how we think about rebar’s role in building resilient, sustainable structures,” said Paul Trautmann, marketing director for Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine. “This year at WOC 2025, we look forward to discussing how Sher-Bar TEC combines sustainability with enhanced durability to truly extend the life of concrete assets.” Sher-Bar TEC reduces waste and minimizes the carbon footprint of construction projects by incorporating upcycled materials, making it an environmentally conscious option for the construction industry. With increased asset longevity and reduced maintenance requirements, TEC-coated structures have a lower environmental impact over their lifespans, delivering sustainability benefits that translate to tangible savings for departments of transportation and municipalities, including fewer trips to the jobsite and reduced emissions. Thanks to its exceptional mechanical properties, the Sher-Bar TEC line provides the durability critical for high-impact structures such as bridges, highways, commercial buildings and industrial foundations. It is particularly advantageous for vertical builds in seismic zones, where the strong bond between rebar and concrete is critical for ensuring structural stability. “Our extensive testing has demonstrated that advancements in textured epoxy coatings represent a major step forward for concrete reinforcement technology,” said Jeffrey Rogozinski, global market director of functional coatings for Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine. “By improving durability and reducing long-term maintenance demands, these coatings address critical challenges faced by the construction industry while paving the way for more resilient infrastructure solutions.” The newly rebranded Sher-Bar line also includes two additional products: Sher-Bar Green (ASTM A775) for rebar requiring flexibility and featuring no cracking during the fabrication process; and durable Sher-Bar Purple (ASTM A934) for prefabricated applications requiring exceptional chemical resistance and corrosion protection.
