Sika Automotive has announced the addition of Sika HydroPrep-110 water based pre-treatment, thus becoming the first OEM supplier able to provide a full range of water-based pre-treatments in direct glazing applications for glass, ceramic and paint. Following the successful launch in 2010 of Sika HydroPrep-100, 2C water based activator for glass and ceramic, continued Sika R&D investment in more-sustainable pre-treatment systems has yielded Sika HydroPrep-110, the latest generation of innovative pre-treatments. The product exhibits excellent long term stability, and allows for simplified mixing procedures and application processes – thus providing more robustness and flexibility to end customers. Further, the product contributes proven results towards more sustainable pre-treatment systems, over conventional systems. Sika HydroPrep-110, 1C water-based activator for glass and ceramic, joins Sika HydroPrep-206 – a long open time, 2C water-based black primer for glass and ceramic, as well as Sika HydroPrep-020 – a 1C water-based activator for paint topcoats, providing OEMs multiple options for more environmentally friendly pre-treatment systems. Currently, the use of Sika’s water based pre-treatment products in OEM assembly processes contributes an estimated 150,000L of VOC reduction each year.
