CPCA Postpones Annual Conference, AGM

04.03.20

CPCA President and CEO Gary LeRoux offered the following statement:

As a precautionary measure, in light of recent events related to the COVID-19 virus and its containment, CPCA’s Board of Directors has postponed the annual conference planned for May 20-21, 2020 at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Quebec City. More details related to a possible new date will be made known in the coming weeks.

CPCA has heard from many members about the prudent actions being taken by their respective companies to contain the virus and prevent its spread. This includes restricting all unnecessary travel and participation in groups of 50 or less in some cases. Of course, companies are also complying with specific rules in local jurisdictions related to the containment of community spread of the virus.

CPCA member companies have always been fully committed to putting the safety of workers first and it is no different in this unfortunate pandemic.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, CPCA staff would like to wish all members good health and well being. The Association will continue to monitor and work on files in the coming weeks that are of importance to its members as responsible authorities work toward containing the spread.

The federal government in Ottawa has issued a notice to all officials to work from home in cases where it is convenient to do so. As a result that may have some impact on CPCA’s continued advocacy work on behalf of members, but it is not expected to impact members or create situations of non-compliance with respect to mandatory deadlines or other reporting requirements for certain regulations or those in development. If members are aware of any such instances they are asked to please contact CPCA at their earliest convenience. CPCA will continue to ensure notifications are provided to members as usual in all such cases.
