NACE has opened a new office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to meet the needs of its growing member base there. The office is now officially staffed with full time employees offering enhanced local services and support. As of January 1, the office was officially staffed with full time employees offering services and support to local members, while strengthening global member communication. The grand opening of the new office was celebrated on November 23, 2009, with staff from NACE Houston headquarters and the new Kuala Lumpur office welcoming members from the East Asian and Pacific Rim, including Japan, Singapore, India, Malaysia, and Pakistan. “This is a very exciting move for NACE,” said Mark Byerley, president, NACE International. “We do business in more than 100 countries, but the Asian region in particular has grown substantially and this office will allow NACE to provide better service through local delivery to members who live there.” The Kuala Lumpur office will be overseen by Astley Pung, manager, East Asia and Pacific Rim. A native of Malaysia, Pung holds an MBA from the American University of Hawaii and was most recently involved in business development for manufacturing firm Prestar Resources Berhad. The ceremony was held in conjunction with the Second East Asian & Pacific Area Conference, held November 23-25, in Kuala Lumpur.
