Allnex has launched two new UV resins, EBECRYL 8602 and EBECRYL 8415 high functionality urethane acrylates for hardcoat applications. EBECRYL 8602 undiluted aliphatic 9-functional urethane acrylate improves coating performance with its excellent scratch and abrasion resistance while offering similar flexibility as standard 6-functional urethane acrylate. It is tin-free and recommended for hardcoat formulations for in-mold decoration (IMD), films for windows and flat panel display and automotive plastic interior parts. In this dual launch, the new EBECRYL 8415 undiluted aliphatic 10-functional urethane acrylate enables outstanding scratch and abrasion resistance as well as high hardness compared to the standard 6-functional urethane acrylate. It is tin-free and suitable for use in hardcoat formulations on rigid plastic substrates and low film thickness coating on filmic substrates. The high functionality of the product shows its benefit especially in low coatweight applications or hardcoats cured at lower energy dose, according to the company.
