Axalta Coating Systems received Qualicoat Class 2 certification for production of Alesta Super Durable (SD) powder coating in China. Alesta SD is manufactured in Dongguan, the location of one of six powder coating manufacturing plants operated in China by Huajia Chemical Co. Ltd., a joint venture that Axalta Coating Systems shares with Yongjia Chemical Co. Ltd. Qualicoat is a well-recognized European quality standard for coatings applied on aluminum extrusions and its alloys for architectural applications. The accredited products meet clearly defined quality and performance criteria defined by Qualicoat which also monitors manufacturer compliance at other licensed plants worldwide. Axalta has also received Qualicoat Class 2 Certification for Alesta SD in its plants in Montbrison, France and Vastervik, Sweden. In Asia, Dongguan is the first Alesta manufacturing facility to receive Qualicoat approval. “Our Qualicoat certification testifies to our continued commitment to deliver superior performing products in the Chinese market,” said Michael Cash, senior vice president and president of Axalta’s global industrial coatings business. “Together with our partner, Yongjia Chemical Co. Ltd, we are continuing to provide our customers with valuable products that provide quality and durability and that reinforce our global strength in architectural powder coatings.” Alesta SD powder coatings have superior durability and are available in a wide selection of colors, effect and gloss levels, and are environmentally responsible. Powder coatings emit no VOCs or targeted HAPs. Alesta SD powder coatings can be used on doors, window frames, cladding and other parts of architectural structures as well as on residential buildings. In China, in addition to the manufacturing facility in Dongguan, Axalta and Yongjia operate powder coating manufacturing plants under the Huajia name that are strategically located in Huangshan, Qingpu (Shanghai), Wuhan, Chengdu, and Shandong. Axalta and Yongjia recently announced capital expansion plans to increase production capacity at its Qingpu facility, and also announced additional manufacturing capacity for the manufacture of newly modified polypropylene powder products at its Huangshan facility. Also in China, Axalta operates liquid coating manufacturing facilities in Changchun and is completing the expansion of its waterborne coating production facility in Jiading, Shanghai.
