ELANTAS PDG, Inc., a global specialty chemical manufacturer and a member of the ALTANA Group, has announced that its President and CEO, Dr. Susan Graham, has been honored by the Board of Governors of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers with the Golden Omega Award. The Award was presented at the Electrical Insulation Conference in Seattle, Washington on June 9, 2015. Dr. Graham is the first woman to receive this prestigious award. The Golden Omega Award is presented on behalf of IEEE’s membership, which includes leaders of science and industry and the users and producers of electrical/electronic materials, components and equipment. The Award is presented biennially to an outstanding person of science, engineering, education or industry who has made important contributions to technological progress. The Award recognizes Dr. Graham’s business leadership and contributions to the electrical business community, particularly in the field of electrical insulation. EPDG’s electrical insulation product offerings include wire enamels, impregnating resins (varnishes), potting compounds and casting resins for motor, transformer, generator, and other electrical and electronic applications. “It is an honor to receive this award from The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers,” said Dr. Graham. “I accept this award on behalf of my dedicated team members and partners across EPDG and our parent company, ALTANA. I am proud to be part of an industry and a company that develops world-class innovative products and services. My goal is to continue promoting innovative and safe business practices within the specialty chemicals industry.” “I was very gratified that Dr. Graham was nominated and unanimously confirmed by the EIC Board of Governors,” said Dr. Greg Stone, chair of the IEEE Electrical Insulation Conference Board of Governors. “Her selection continues our long tradition of recognizing outstanding business and thought leaders in the electrical industry. Her selection was especially encouraging since she leads a company that is at the heart of the electrical insulation industry – which is the focus of the IEEE Electrical Insulation Conference. Congratulations to Dr. Graham for all her contributions, both to her company and the insulation industry.” Dr. Graham is a member of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) Board of Governors and the St. Louis Regional Business Council. In 2008, Dr. Graham was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Pittsburgh. Under her influence, EPDG has strengthened its commitments to the company’s four guiding principles of Safety, Service, Quality, and Innovation, and EPDG has been recognized as a leading company in the St. Louis region, known for its contributions to the community.
