GLIDDEN paint has announced Cappuccino White (45YY 74/073) as its 2016 Color of the Year. A soft white that offers silence and creates a peaceful space away from the hectic landscape of everyday life, Cappuccino White echoes the growing consumer need for regular escape from the pace of today’s constantly connected world. According to Glidden paint color expert Misty Yeomans, the brand drew influences from societal trends in forecasting Cappuccino White as the Color of the Year. “As legendary fashion designer Tom Ford said, ‘time and silence are the most luxurious things today.’ In an age of constant interruption and chatter, Cappuccino White offers a soft backdrop that helps defer distractions and creates a calm lightness in the home to encourage a relaxed mind,” Yeomans said. “This creamy off-white is the perfect illustration of this concept. It is reflective of the urge to turn off the chaos and move away from the fast-paced world we are accustomed to and instead find softness and peace.” Cappuccino White pairs well with delicate pastels and light neutrals such as Glidden paint’s Sonata Mauve (30RR 30/103), a soft pink; Sea Spray (30BG 56/097), a soothing teal; Frosted Mulberry (70RB 18/117), a violet; and Nocturnal Creek (30BG 31/053), a stone gray. Accents of dark gray and black hues anchor the ethereal spirit of Cappuccino White. Nuanced pastels will be on more than just walls this year, according to Yeomans. She said she anticipates they will appear in soft goods such as pillows, tableware, fabrics and rugs. “Seeing easy off-white and other soft, nuanced pastels in the textiles market makes Cappuccino White very versatile in home decor. “Consumers who crave these colors desire to create softness and fluidity in their home,” Yeomans said. “The graceful color palette promotes wellness, purity, mindfulness, balance and peace.” The Glidden brand is a line of PPG Architectural Coatings, a business of PPG Industries, the world’s leading coatings company. Glidden brand products are available at The Home Depot and Walmart locations across the U.S.
