PPG Industries’ coil and building products-exterior coatings group will exhibit the full line of DURANAR fluoropolymer coatings and join Arkema Inc. in celebrating the 50th anniversary of KYNAR 500 resin, a key ingredient in every Duranar coatings formulation, during METALCON International 2015 at the Tampa Convention Center in Florida, Oct. 14-16. In addition, PPG representatives will present three 30-minute “Learning Zone” sessions on the show floor throughout METALCON’s three-day educational program. Visitors to PPG booth 1209 will find roof panels, siding panels and other samples of metal architectural components coated with conventional and specialty Duranar products such as Duranar ULTRA-COOL and color-shifting Duranar VARI-COOL coatings, both of which feature PPG’s proprietary infrared-reflective coatings technology. There also will be metal panels showing Duranar GR (graffiti-resistant) coatings. Every Duranar coating is formulated with Kynar 500 FSF (fluorosurfactant-free) polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) resin in combination with proprietary PPG resins, pigments and solvents. PPG is the only original and continuous licensee of Kynar 500 resin technologies, which, together with Duranar coatings, represent two of the industry’s most recognized, recommended and trusted brands. PPG will present “Managing Color Expectations for High-Performance Coatings” in Learning Zone 1 (Booth 845) on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 4:45 to 5:15 p.m., and on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 2:45 to 3:15 p.m. In the same booth on Friday, Oct. 16, PPG will present “The Basics of Fluoropolymers Coatings” from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Visitors to PPG booth 1209 also can get information on next-generation DURAFORM coatings, which are engineered with a proprietary PPG polymer providing 10-percent higher solids, better hardness and increased flexibility compared to conventional polyester coatings. The new polymer technology enables PPG to optimize Duraform coatings for seven industry-specific applications: Duraform AP coatings for appliances; Duraform BP coatings for building products; Duraform CP coatings for consumer products; Duraform DR coatings for doors; Duraform HV coatings for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) components; Duraform LF coatings for light fixtures; and Duraform TR coatings for transportation equipment. Additionally, attendees can learn about the digital Architectural Metal Coatings Binder app and new PPG Metal Coatings Online Color Selector Tool, two online specification platforms developed by PPG.
