PPG Expands Vibrance Collection Lineup

PPG Industries’ latest additions—a custom midcoat and a custom clear—to the VIBRANCE COLLECTION line of custom paint finishes have created a complete custom automotive refinish system solution that enables painters and builders to achieve exceptional results. The additions, along with two established and highly effective primers, have enhanced the Vibrance Collection brand and work together to open up imaginative refinish possibilities.

VWM500 Custom Midcoat is a solventborne, volatile organic compund-compliant (VOC-compliant) product formulated exclusively for application over PPG waterborne basecoats. It enables painters to use Vibrance Collection special-effect pigments and dyes to seamlessly create multiple color layers including custom candies, micas or pearl midcoat layers. VWM500 is particularly effective when the custom finish is created over an extended period of time or when there is a need to isolate graphics.

VC5700 DITZLER Custom Clear is designed for custom shops. It is a high-build, easy-to-apply urethane clearcoat that provides a deep, high gloss perfect for a show-quality finish. VC5700 fills tape lines and graphics, has excellent vertical hold and is easy to polish. It can also be used as a “lock-down” clear to protect and level graphics and provide a layer to sand prior to flow coating.

The Vibrance Collection primers, VP2050 DTM High-Build Primer and VP2100 Polyester Primer, create ideal foundations for custom and restoration projects. VP2050 is a direct-to-metal primer that delivers superior adhesion over properly prepared bare steel, galvanized steel, aluminum, fiber glass and existing coatings. VP2100 is a fast-drying, low-VOC primer for use over existing coatings, properly prepared steel and aluminum.

The Vibrance Collection line includes a range of toners and dyes along with micas, flakes, crystals and novelty effects that are compatible with the primers and the new midcoat and clearcoat. Vibrance Collection products are available through PPG distributors.
