During the annual R&D 100 Awards event held on Nov. 12 and 13, R&D Magazine honored Dow Coating Materials (DCM), a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW), with an R&D 100 Award.

R&D Magazine recognized ACRYSOL RM-725 Rheology Modifier as a winner in the Mechanical Devices/Materials category. ACRYSOL RM-725 Rheology Modifier offers excellent applied hiding, enhanced surface appearance and better touch-up in a broad range of paint formulations.

Addressing paint formulators’ needs for highly efficient, easy pouring thickeners while answering applicators’ desires for better hiding and smoother surfaces, ACRYSOL RM-725 Rheology Modifier is a next-generation HEUR enabled by ACID SUPPRESSION™ Technology, employing pH-triggered association versus requiring the use of solvent or surfactant. This year’s addition to Dow’s functional family of additives provides a near-zero VOC additive option with excellent sag/flow balance and broad formulation capabilities for vinyl acrylic (PVA), vinyl acetate ethylene (VAE) and other acrylic binder systems.

As consumer, contractor, regulatory and specification demands evolve, the R&D team at Dow Coating Materials will continue to develop new products and technologies which provide high-performance sustainable solutions for the coatings industry.

ACRYSOL RM-725 Rheology Modifier joins six other technologies from Dow honored with R&D 100 Awards, one of which received special recognition in Green Technology this year.

1Manufactured without added solvent
2Manufactured without the use of APEO surfactants
