Axalta Coating Systems supported the EyesOn Design Awards program at the 2016 North American International Auto Show. The annual benefit supports the visual research program at Henry Ford Health System’s Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology (DIO). Lisa Miree-Luke, Axalta Head of Corporate Affairs for North America, co-emceed the event on January 12, 2016 with Marcus Shelley of American Sunroof who also serves on the Advisory Council of the Department of Ophthalmology of Henry Ford Health System. David Fischer, Axalta’s Vice President of Market Strategy and Growth─Transportation, addressed distinguished guests and judges at the EyesOn Design VIP luncheon and Nancy Lockhart, Axalta Global Color Marketing Manager, served as a docent to the judges. EyesOn Design Awards showcase vehicles that are making their auto show debuts. Winners are selected by judges who are active or retired automotive designers or chairs of transportation design education programs. The Acura Precision Concept Car won Axalta’s Innovative Use of Color, Graphics and Materials award. “At Axalta, we have an appreciation for design and the vital role that color plays,” said Fischer. “We are pleased to support the EyesOn Design program. It has accomplished much over the last decade to enable DIO to help people enjoy the colors of life and the world around them every single day.” On January 15, 2016, Axalta also provided the ribbon for the ceremonial ribbon cutting at the Charity Preview, the largest single-night fundraiser in the country. The ribbon’s vibrant shade of blue was in keeping with Axalta’s North American Automotive Color of the Year 2016, Brilliant Blue, a color familiar to attendees during the auto show’s preview week who had seen Brilliant Blue almost everywhere over the previous five days. Greeters at the show donned Brilliant Blue ties and scarves and handed out blue candy to all attendees. A Brilliant Blue video was unveiled during EyesOn Design program as well.
