Axalta Coating Systems recently celebrated the sale of its 40,000th spectrophotometer at the Specialty Equipment Market Association tradeshow in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, where Mike Carr, Axalta President – North America, and Michael Gogoel, BYK-Gardner USA President, unveiled a commemorative spectrophotometer. BYK-Gardner, a global leader in the field of measuring color and appearance and testing physical properties of plastic, coatings and cosmetics, manufactures Axalta’s spectrophotometers.
As a leader in color matching technology, Axalta pioneered the development of portable colorimeters and then spectrophotometers, and was the first in the industry to offer a device that measures color and flake appearance in 2011.
In Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), today’s spectrophotometers are available from each of Axalta’s three premium global refinish brands – Cromax®, Spies Hecker and Standox. The devices are branded as ChromaVision® and ChromaVision® Pro from Cromax®, Color Dialog and Color Dialog Delta-Scan from Spies Hecker and Genius II and Genius iQ from Standox. The cutting-edge spectrophotometers are also available globally to Axalta’s bodyshop customers as part of its extensive color tool choices. They are sold in the US and Asia Pacific under the names Acquire and Acquire Plus EFX.
Dr. Martin Wulf, Color Marketing Manager for Axalta Refinish Systems in EMEA, says, “The devices are designed to help refinishers get the right color match the first time by eliminating costly mistakes and by speeding up the repair process. The patented technology quickly identifies the paint color, and users of the second-generation devices will also get the details of any paint effects. Then, the color software selects the closest color formula to match based on pre-set search criteria making the entire process quick, easy and effortless.”
Carr concludes, “It is a milestone to have Axalta’s 40,000th spectrophotometer in the marketplace. It truly is a compliment that so many bodyshops realise the benefits of this device. Customers appreciate tools that help them get the job done efficiently, quickly and accurately. We are proud to offer this solution to the market and look forward to its continued growth.”
