Bio-based materials bringing new performance and alternative sourcing for the automotive industry is one of the key focus areas at this year’s Plant Based Summit in Lille, France. Join us on April 25 at 11:30 a.m. CEST where Denis Burlaud, EMEA sales manager, DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products, will present “Leveraging Bio-based Performance from the Ground Up Across Automotive Applications.” “DuPont Tate & Lyle’s Susterra propanediol is manufactured through a proprietary fermentation process using plant-derived glucose. It is the building block that delivers high-performance in a variety of applications from abrasion resistant synthetic leathers and coated fabrics to soft, crack-resistant thermoplastic polyurethanes,” explained Burlaud. “Today, automobile manufacturers can utilize Susterra® propanediol to meet the performance they are looking for as well as the bio-content consumers desire.” “In front of an ever-increasing number of challenges, plant-based chemistry is demonstrating its resilience as well as its ability to grow,” stated François Monnet, president, Association Chimie du Végétal (ACDV). “The Plant Based Summit will once again contribute to the development of bio-based chemicals in a world where carbon emissions and dependency on fossil resources have to be reduced.” In addition to being renewably sourced, Susterra is manufactured using a sustainable process that produces 50 percent less greenhouse gas emissions and consumes 42 percent less non-renewable energy than equivalent petroleum-based diols. At the manufacturing facility’s full capacity, that is equivalent to taking 40,000 passenger cars off the road and turning off 1 million 100W incandescent lightbulbs for one full year. DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products is a joint venture between DuPont, a global science company, and Tate & Lyle, a world-leading specialty ingredients and solutions company. DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products provides natural and renewably sourced ingredients that enhance product performance.
