As part of the company’s commitment to sustainability, Axalta Coating Systems was the official presenting sponsor of the recent Stroud Water Research Center’s Rally for Fresh Water, a road rally which led participants, including many Axalta employees, around southeastern Pennsylvania to raise awareness and increase understanding of the important natural water resources of the area.
Participants experienced a day filled with brilliant sights and sounds as the rally included some spectacular vehicles including Porsches, a Morgan, and the official Axalta Pace Car - a Jeep Wrangler which led participants through the idyllic Pennsylvania countryside with views of Amish country, the Susquehanna River, and the privately-owned Runnymede Sanctuary. On the drive, participants learned about fresh water ecology and watershed restoration projects led by the Stroud Center.
“Clean, fresh water has an impact on our everyday lives in many ways, from safe water to drink to agricultural use,” said Mike Carr, Axalta President-North America. “That is why we are proud to sponsor the Stroud Water Research Center. The work they do touches our employees at our four Philadelphia-area locations, as well as the many local communities that benefit from Stroud’s terrific programs committed to sustainability.”
“The road rally was a wonderful way for us to showcase some of the work that the Stroud Center has accomplished over the past 50 years,” said Dr. Bern Sweeney, President and Distinguished Senior Research Scientist. “We are fortunate to have a corporate partner such as Axalta that is committed to the environment and STEM education, two tenets of our mission.”
