Astrophysicist and cosmologist Neil deGrasse Tyson will serve as the keynote speaker at Greenbuild 2017, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and Informa Exhibitions announced in a joint press release.
Tyson's remarks are slated for 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.“Dr. Tyson’s clarity and wit as a respected science expert will challenge and invigorate our community to address the many serious issues affecting the environment and our world today," said Mahesh Ramanujam, president and CEO, USGBC.
Tyson was born and raised in New York City.
He holds a B.A. in Physics from Harvard and earned his PhD in Astrophysics at Columbia. Tyson has received 19 honorary doctorates and the NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal, the highest award given by NASA to a non-government citizen. He is the fifth head of the Hayden Planetarium and the first occupant of its Frederick P. Rose Directorship. Additionally, Tyson is a research associate for the American Museum of Natural History's Astrophysics department.
The conference is scheduled for Nov. 8-10.
Rockers, The Revivalists, are set to perform Nov. 9 at the Museum of Science.
